Tunisian Windows Baby Blanket

 



I'm having so much fun with Tunisian Crochet short rows and found so many uses for them. I wanted a larger mesh with this design and was able to attain it with short rows of knit stitch.

MATERIALS

Lion Brand Comfy Cotton Blend - 200 gr/7 oz - 392 yards/358 meters (2 skeins)

Pictured sample was made with 2 colorways, alternating every other row. Stained Glass, Flower Garden

Gauge: 15.5sts x 8.5r = 4”/10cm using I/9-5.5mm hook in pattern.

Finished size is 25” wide  x 31” long after blocking.

Pattern is worked in multiples of 16.

SUPPLIES

·I/9 – 5.50 mm hook w/ 24” cable & stopper

·4.50 mm crochet hook        

·Scissors

·ch – Chain

·bbtss – tss in back bump of RetP ch

·es – Edge Stitch (usually 1st & last st of flat Tunisian crochet row)

·etks – extended Tunisian Knit Stitch

·etss – extended Tunisian Simple Stitch

·FwdP – Forward Pass

·rep – Repeat

·RetP – Return Pass        

·sk – skip

SPECIAL STITCHES

•etss2tog – insert hook from right to left under the next 2 vertical bars, yo, pull up a loop, ch1. Creates a decrease.

•etks2tog –

1.insert hook from right to left into the next 2 stitches from front to back, yo, pull up a loop, ch1.

2.In the case where the 1st st is a yo; insert hook under the left leg of the yo from the row below and from front to back in the next stitch, yo, pull up a loop.

Border – with smaller hook, sl st in all sts around blanket once.

Fasten off & weave in ends. Wet block if using natural fibers, steam block if using acrylic.
