Primary Color - Begin by casting on as follows: ch40, insert hook into the 2nd chain from the hook, yarn over, pull up a loop. Leave that loop on the hook. Rep this process to the end of the ch. 40 loops on the hook.

BEGIN STITCHING MAIN TOWEL

ROW 1 - Continue with Primary Color – tss to last st.

FwdP - Skip the vertical bar directly beneath the loop currently on the hook, insert the hook from right to left (assuming that you are right-handed), so the hook goes behind the next vertical bar of the foundation row (keeping the hook to the front of the work, not front-to-back).

Draw up a loop. Leave it on your hook. Repeat to the last vertical bar. Insert your hook under both vertical bars of the last stitch (it should look like a v on the outer edge of the work) and pull up a loop. 40 loops on the hook.

RetP - Yarn over and draw through one loop only, (yarn over and draw through two loops.) Repeat (-) to the end. You should have one loop on your hook.

ROW 2 - tprs to last st.

FwdP - Skip the vertical bar directly beneath the loop currently on the hook, with yarn in front, insert the hook from right to left (assuming that you are right-handed), so the hook goes behind the next back vertical bar of the row below. Draw up a loop. Leave it on your hook. Repeat to the last vertical bar. With yarn in back, insert your hook under both vertical bars of the last stitch as to tss and pull up a loop. 40 Loops on the hook.

Cast off in tss.

Skip the vertical bar directly beneath the loop currently on the hook, insert the hook as you would for tss.

Yarn over, pull up a loop, continue pulling through the loop on the hook as to slip stitch in traditional crochet. Repeat to the last stitch. Last stitch - insert the hook under both vertical bars of the last stitch and finish the slip stitch. Ch1.

BORDER

A slip stitch border can be added if you find the edge stitches to be a bit loose and uneven. With front side facing you & starting with loop on the hook, begin slst in the edge sts on the left-hand side of the towel, continue around the perimeter of the towel and fasten off.

OPTIONAL SCALLOPED ENDS

White - With front facing you, begin with a standing sc in the furthermost bind on/off stitch on the right-hand side of the towel, (sk 1 st, 5 dc in next st, sk 1 st, sc in next st), rep (-) to end. Fasten off. 10 scallops, 11 sc.
Repeat on opposite end of towel.

Wash towel according to yarn band instructions and wet block to shape.
