Intro
Here in the South, frigid winter days are few & far between. We have wind though, lots of wind. When the wind blows, even moderate temps can feel like your ears are icy. This is a simple ear warmer headband that works up very quickly in bulky weight yarn for just that occasion. 1-2 hour project.

Materials
Patons Alpaca Blend–Smoke, 100g/3.5oz - 155yrds/142m
J/10 - 6mm Crochet Hook
Tapestry Needle
Gauge: 11sts x 5r = 4” in ldc.
Gauge: 11sts x 5r = 4” in ldc.
Size - 21" circumference x 3" wide
- ldc – linked double crochet
Next stitch: Insert hook in middle horizontal bar of previous stitch, yo, draw up a loop, insert hook in next ch or st, yo, draw up a loop, (3 loops on hook), yo, draw through 2 loops, yo, draw through last 2 loops.
- When working in the round, link last Ldc to beg turning ch as follows:
Abbreviations
blo - back loop only
ch – chain
flo - front loop only
ldc - linked double crochet
rep - repeat
sc - single crochet
sk - skip
st(s) - stitch; stitches
yo - yarn over
Loosely chain 60, leave 6” tail to join base of 1st row.
- (WS) Work ldc set-up st (see Stitch Guide), ldc in each ch across, join using instructions in stitch guide for working in the round, turn—58 ldc sts.
- Ch 3 (counts as 1st ldc here and throughout), sk 1st ldc, ldc (see set-up st) blo in each st around, join using instruction in stitch guide for working in the round. Do NOT turn. – 58 ldc sts.
- Ch1, sc in back bump of each ldc around, join to 1st sc. – 58 sc
- Ch1, sc in top loops in each sc around. Join to 1st sc. – 58 sc
- Ch 3, sk 1st ldc, ldc (see set-up st) in bb in each sc around, join, turn. – 58 ldc sts
- Ch 3, sk 1st ldc, ldc (see set-up st) in flo in each ldc around, join. – 58 Ldc sts
Fasten off.
Use tail from chain row to close the gap between the base of the 1st & last ldc stitches of round 1. Weave in ends.
