Florence Rose

 

Intro

Florence Grace & Florence Rose ~ a couple of elegant and classic headbands for you & yours. They're great gifts for all the lovelies on your list!

Using the Tunisian Crochet technique, they work up quickly (approx 2-3 hours each).
Written for the advanced beginner, you will need to be familiar with basic Tunisian crochet stitches.

Materials

1 - 100g skein worsted will yield both headbands
K/6.5mm Afghan Hook
Tapestry Needle
Gauge: 11 sts X 10 rows = 4" Worked over Pattern Repeat
Size - Adult (Adjustable)

Stitch Guide

  • SmP – Small Puff:  yarn over, insert hook in designated space between stitches on the row below, yarn over, pull up loop) x 3 - 6 loops on hook
  • LgP - Large Puff: yarn over, insert hook in designated space between stitches on the row below, yarn over, pull up loop) x 6 - 12 loops on hook.

Abbreviations

  • BO - bind of
  • ch - chain
  • FO - fasten off
  • FwdP - Forward Pass
  • rep - repeat
  • RetP - Return Pass
  • sk - skip
  • sl st - slip stitch
  • sp - space
  • st - stitch
  • tfs - Tunisian full stitch
  • tog - together
  • trs = Tunisian reverse stitch
  • tss - Tunisian simple stitch
  • yo - yarn over
Foundation Row - ch 11, pull up loops in back bump of each ch - 11 loops on hook
RetP - yo, pull thru 1 loop, (yo, pull thru 2 loops) to end.

1. FwdP - sk st directly beneath loop on hook, tss, SmP in sp between tss and next st, SmP in next sp, trs x5, SmP in sp between trs and next st, SmP in next sp, tss, insert hook under the 2 outside loops of last st, yo, pull up loop. - 33 loops on hook.
RetP - yo, pull thru 1 loop, yo, pull thru 2 loops, yo, pull thru 6 loops, ch1, yo, pull thru 6 loops, (yo, pull thru 2 loops) x5, yo, pull thru 6 loops, ch1, yo, pull thru 6 loops, (yo, pull thru 2 loops) x2.

2. FwdP - sk st directly beneath loop on hook, tss, LgP in ch1 sp, tss x5, LgP in ch1 sp, tss, insert hook under the 2 outside loops of last st, yo, pull up loop. - 33 loops on hook.

3. FwdP - sk st directly beneath loop on hook, tss, LgP in ch1 sp, trs x5, LgP in ch1 sp, tss, insert hook under the 2 outside loops of last st, yo, pull up loop. - 33 loops on hook.
RetP - yo, pull thru 1 loop, yo, pull thru 2 loops, yo, pull thru 6 loops, ch1, yo, pull thru 6 loops, (yo, pull thru 2 loops) x5, yo, pull thru 6 loops, ch1, yo, pull thru 6 loops, (yo, pull thru 2 loops) x2.

Rep rows 2 & 3 until piece measures 21" (for average adult), end with a row 3.

4. FwdP - sk st directly beneath loop on hook, tss, SmP in ch1 sp, tss x5, SmP in ch1 sp, tss, insert hook under the 2 outside loops of last st, yo, pull up loop. - 21 loops on hook.
RetP - yo, pull thru 1 loop, yo, pull thru 2 loops, yo, pull thru 6 loops, (yo, pull thru 2 loops) x5, yo, pull thru 6 loops, (yo, pull thru 2 loops) x2.

BO in tss. Cut yarn leaving a 12" length of yarn for seaming.

With right sides facing, fold strip lengthwise so ends meet sandwiched together as in photo: 


Thread tapestry needle with yarn tail and run through all thicknesses across ends (cast on stitches & bind off stitches), then back again.
