Easy Placemats in Tunisian Crochet

This quick & easy placemat is a fun project for the beginner Tunisian crocheter. The built in honeycomb stitch border eliminates the normal Tunisian crochet curl while giving the piece a finished look.



Materials

·Lion Brand Comfy Cotton Blend - 200 gr/7 oz - 392 yards/358 meters ~ Appx 120 g
Pictured sample was made with 2 colorways, alternating every other row. Stained Glass, Flower Garden

Gauge: 16sts x 16r = 4”/10cm using I/9-5.5mm hook in pattern.

Supplies

·I/9 – 5.50 mm hook w/ 24” cable & stopper
·4.50 mm crochet hook
·Scissors
·Tapestry Needle

Abbreviations 

·ch – chain
·es – edge stitch (usually 1st & last st of flat Tunisian crochet row)
·FwdP – Forward Pass
·rep – Repeat
·RetP – Return Pass
·sk – skip
·slst – Slip Stitch
·st(s) – Stitch / Stitches
·tps – Tunisian Purl Stitch
·tss – Tunisian Simple Stitch

Size Measurements - Finished size is 18” wide  x 12” tall after blocking.



Foundation Row: With larger hook, ch66.  
Working into the back bump of each ch st,  yarn over and pull a loop through leaving the loop on your hook. 66 loops on the hook.
RetP – ch1, (yo, pull thru 2 loops) rep (-) to end.
